"We found Lalati to be the perfect place to really unwind for the first time in our lives."
Helena & Jamie, Washington, D.C.
This is not your everyday holiday. This is an authentic Fijian adventure! Beqa islanders hold their traditions dear, and love to share their world with you. Fijian culture is rich in oral history, legends and myths, which come alive for you at Lalati Resort. Visit our villager neighbors, on a "village safari" for a slice of life adventure that supports these warm and wonderful people, and helps keep the Fijian culture alive for generations to come.

Beqa is the ancestral home of Fiji Islands' fierce and famous Fire Walkers. The mystic gift of walking barefoot on hot rocks and coming out unscathed is a legend that your village host Sisa will explain as you watch in amazement as these brave villagers heat up rocks to sizzling degrees, and dance across in a ceremony that is sure to leave you wondering "How?".
Gathering with the local villagers around the carved wooden tanoa kava bowl, sharing stories and Fiji's national drink with you, their guests, is what our Kava Sessions are all about. It's a mildly relaxing brew of "grog" – the pounded root of a relative of the pepper plant. Inevitably, someone will break out their guitar, and the singing and laughter starts. You're sure to get a great night sleep after a session with our villagers!
Food is wrapped in banana leaves, covered with palm fronds, and placed on hot rocks in an underground oven. Lovo nights are a guest favorite, a chance to taste traditional Fijian food. Starting with delectable Kokoda (fresh fish marinated in lime and coconut milk) and finishing with homemade coconut ice cream, the feast features a variety of smoky meats and fish, traditional dishes like palusami, cassava and dalo, rice-stuffed pumpkin, and fresh salads from our organic garden.
